The web is dead. Goodbye to Static Sites, Hello to Living Interfaces
In the early days of the internet, website design followed a fairly straightforward formula. Businesses would create a handful of static web pages - an "About" section, a product overview, a contact form - and call it a day. This approach made sense at the time, when the web was still a novelty and most users had relatively simple needs. However, those days are long gone.
User interfaces have long been a one-size-fits-all proposition. Whether you're a tech-savvy 25-year-old browsing the latest fashion e-commerce site, a busy parent in their 40s using a productivity app to organize the household, or a retired 65-year-old checking their bank balance - the basic layout and functionality tends to be the same across the board.
But what if user interfaces could be as dynamic and personalized as the users themselves? Imagine an e-commerce experience tailored to your specific style preferences and purchasing habits. Or a productivity app that rearranges its features and workflows based on your daily routines and cognitive patterns. And a banking app that surfaces the most relevant financial information and tools for your stage of life.
I recently came across a website that demonstrated this concept quite effectively. The homepage featured a prominent "I'm technical" button that allowed users to toggle between a technical interface and a more approachable one geared towards non-technical users looking to build AI agents. It’s simplistic at a high-level but is powerful in terms of conversion/lift.
I believe we are approaching a new era of UX/UI → UX/AI
Enter the concept of "living interfaces" - application experiences that continuously evolve and adapt to the unique needs of each individual user. This is the vision that Coframe, is bringing to life. Coframe's platform utilizes advanced generative AI to test, optimize, and personalize every aspect of a company's online presence. From the layout and design of web pages, to the tone and messaging of marketing campaigns, Coframe is able to continuously refine the user experience based on real-time data and individual user behavior. The company has developed a specialized AI model for generating a website's user interface code. Rather than relying on static templates or manual development, this system is able to autonomously create visually consistent, on-brand UI elements that are optimized for each user's needs.
